Winning Over Investors: How to Write an Exceptional One-Pager

No matter how strong the company, attracting investors and holding their attention is rarely a simple task. Investors typically have a short period of time to evaluate a business and decide if it’s worthy of further scrutiny - which is where a one-pager comes in. Distilling a company’s key features into one sheet of paper requires a number of tough choices. Lucky for you, we have three tips to put your best foot forward:

  1. Keep Value Proposition Front & Center: A solid one-pager relies on a number of parts, but must ensure that each contributes to the story of why your company makes a good investment.

  2. Add a Call to Action: Often forgotten, a strong Call to Action is necessary to ensure your one-pager is as influential as possible. At the bottom, insert a catchy line that encourages investors to reach out. Right under this should be contact details for either an executive or, ideally, your IR team. Or, add a QR code-invaluable for telling the whole story in a short amount of space.

  3. Don’t Skimp on Team Details: For micro, small and mid companies, the team leading the organization can be among the most important attributes to an investor. While you shouldn’t add their resume, be sure to include as much relevant information as possible that will show an investor your business is led by capable, experienced executives.
